In this post I will be discussing the brief and the client; Sunderland Culture
What is Sunderland Culture about?
Sunderland Culture is a registered charity that brings together a community of people to explore a more creative side of Sunderland, it has many different venues that explores the creative potential these venues include; the Arts Centre Washington, City wide Programme, The Fire Station, National Glass Centre, Northern gallery for Contemporary Art and the Sunderland Museum along with the Winter Gardens.
Their purpose is to improve life for everyone in Sunderland through culture, it is invested by 3 main funders of arts provision in the city including; Sunderland City Council, University of Sunderland and the Music, Arts & Culture Trust.
What is the context?
Sunderland Culture are holding a mixed media exhibition titled Bright Lights: Northern Talent The exhibition will be held across the different venues in the North East. Having evolving over the past 26 years, Bright lights Youth Art Exhibition has been a platform showcasing develop young media talent through a series of exhibitions and festivals.
What are the requirements?
The organisers have requested suitable media products from up-and-coming media content creators that clearly illustrate talent within the region.
The following requirements are to either to create a short fictional film or documentary with a minimum of 15 minutes or to create a series of digitally manipulated art pieces (minimum of 5).
Target audience
The main focus for their target audience will be aimed at young people from the ages of 16-25, their aim is to engage and educate young people on local talent, with the aim of developing the cities cultural awareness and diversity.
My final choice
I am planning to produce a fictional short film using stop motion animation software, i plan to showcase my talents and demonstrate my skills since I have been experience in making animations at home in my free time as a hobby.
